The Weed Control and Riverbank Planting group aim to restore the areas directly surrounding the river to build a suitable habitat for all those that live, fish or play in and around the Maitai River.
The group organises public planting days in conjunction with the NCC and Nelmac. The group itself will organise their own working bees to do general maintenace of new plantings and weed control.
I’ve joined the Friends of the Maitai becuase it offers me the opportunity to be involved with a community based group who are taking action. Annie Marcus
