NCC – Rain flushes toxic algae away

November 21, 2016 by Rosie

Latest media release from city council:
Rain flushes toxic algae away.
Surveys of monitoring sites on the Maitai and Wakapuaka Rivers have shown that the recent rainfall and high river flows have flushed previously high levels of Phormidium cyanobacteria (toxic blue green algae) away.
The toxic algae risk alert level for the Maitai and Wakapuaka recreation monitoring sites is now LOW.
The next cyanobacteria monitoring update will be Wednesday 30 November.
