The restoration of the Groom Creek wetland has been a major focus of Friends of the Maitai since 2014. Regular planting and plant care days have seen this area transformed with the trees now reaching maturity and the river banks clad in flax and grasses.
Adjacent to the area we maintain additional restoration by the Nelson City Council includes ponds and extensive planting.
